Bow Arts

Bow Arts is delighted to be working with the Poplar Partnership on a year-long programme of activity designed to create inspirational learning opportunities for children and young people in Tower Hamlets. One of our key aims is to imbed the arts into curriculum delivery, and therefore into children’s everyday school experiences.

Across the year, Bow Arts will work with each of the ten Poplar Partnership schools to deliver three separate strands of activity:

Firstly, each school will undertake an artist-led bespoke project, developed in response to their individual needs or objectives. Projects will vary widely across the partnership, from the making of permanent artworks to improve school grounds and targeted pupil interventions to skills-based programmes and cross-curricular projects. These projects will offer pupils high-quality learning experiences and aim to increase their skills, knowledge and understanding of the arts.

The second strand is a programme of artist-led after school sessions for KS2 children identified as gifted and talented in art. These workshops will aim to nurture talent, develop skills and prepare children for the transition to KS3 through a programme accredited by Arts Award Explore (see http://www.artsaward.org.uk/ for more information).

Finally, teachers from across the partnership will be able to take advantage of a series of professional development workshops designed to help them develop new skills, broader creative approaches to curriculum teaching and greater confidence in delivering arts learning in their schools. Workshops will cover a wide range of skills, from animation and textiles to art in the outdoor environment.

The programme will culminate in a celebration of pupils’ achievements across the year at a special sharing event. This will be a chance for the young people to share their skills, learn from their peers and take pride in their work.

The programme is supported by: Bow Arts, the participating schools, Poplar Partnership and Fidelity UK.
